Athlete Eligibility
Any athlete who won a medal in their local 2011 or 2012 State Games or the 2011 State Games of America in San Diego is eligible to compete. The medal must be in a sport that is being offered in 2013. (See the Sports page.) If an athlete wins a medal in their local State Games in 2013 before the entry deadline for State Games of America, they are eligible.
Since Pennsylvania is the host state in 2013, any Pennsylvania athlete who has been a PA resident for at least 30 days prior to the first day of competition is eligible to compete. Some team sports do have a try-out format, but any resident would be eligible to try out.
The 2013 State Games of America will be combined with the 2013 Keystone State Games. The sports rules and eligibilty rules will be agreed upon by the Keystone State Games and the State Games of America.
Age and Skill Level Requirements
All athletes must match the age and skill level requirements for their sport. Each sport has its own defined age and skill levels. *These details will be available in the coming months as registration details are confirmed.
Age Determination
For all sports, you must register at your CURRENT level and age group as defined by each sport. For example, if you qualified as a 9 & under team in 2011, you may be an 11 & under team for the 2013 State Games of America. Age determining dates for each sport will be listed on the individual sports pages.
Roster Changes
For team sports, you are allowed up to 50% of your roster to change from the year you qualified for the State Games of America.
